If you are interested in re-employment at a Northeast Utilities System company, here's some information that may be helpful to you.
Contract/Vendor Employment
If you are interested in contractor/vendor employment, complete the Contract Labor Retiree Registration Form
(PDF: 31KB) and return it directly to Guidant at the address on the form.
- While you are employed as a contractor/vendor, your retirement benefits from Northeast Utilities do not change. For example, you continue to be eligible for retiree life and health benefits, and you continue to collect your monthly pension benefits.
- As a contractor/vendor, you are not eligible for paid holidays or paid vacation from Northeast Utilities.
Regular Employment
If you are interested in being re-employed by the company, you can apply for available positions at www.nu.com . Here's some information that may be helpful to you.
- You would be considered a probationary employee for the first six months of re-employment.
- If you are re-hired by the company, you would have the option of putting your monthly pension benefits on hold so that you can accrue additional credited service under the Retirement Plan. Should you elect this option, your pension would be recalculated using all your years of service and pensionable earnings, less the Actuarial Equivalent of any monies already received, when you re-retire from the company.
- You would not be eligible to continue retiree health benefits while actively employed, but rather would be eligible to enroll in the health benefits available to active employees.
- Your company-paid retiree life insurance would be discontinued; however, you would be eligible to enroll for employee life insurance.
- All of your years of service would be considered when determining your eligibility for company-paid vacation starting in the calendar year following your year of re-employment. In the calendar year of re-employment, you would accrue company-paid vacation at the same rate as a new hire (two days per month for full months worked January through May).
